High quality traditionally-made lard. This product is traditionally used in cuisines from this area, as a base for making a most versatile range of meals, but also as a spread, which is very similar to butter in its characteristics. Use of lard in modern cuisine has largely decreased with the appearance of vegetable oil, but in the recipe books of seasoned chefs it remains an irreplaceable ingredient. It is an especially valued ingredient for making various pastry dishes.
